What We Do
Everything we do at Skcin is aimed at educating and raising awareness on the subject of sun safety and the early detection of skin cancers in order to save lives. We are particularly keen to work with 'at risk groups', those that are particularly susceptible to the dangers of over exposure to UV by the nature of the activities they carry out.
We are always busy spreading the sun safety message and distrubuting literature and running campaigns with our partners. Here are some of the things we are currently working on.
Sun Safety & Skin Cancer Booklet
We have just launched a new 'Sun Safety and Skin Cancer' booklet, which is a comprehensive guide to staying safe and enjoying the sun and being aware of the signs and symptoms of skin cancer for early detection. This 16 page pocket sized guide is in a handy format aimed as a keepsake guide for family medicine cabinets.

New Sunny 3 Campaign
Once again we are fotunate to be working with creative advertising agency McCann Erickson and recently launched a spoof , the last spoof campaign the agency produced for us, claiming you could get a tan by looking at your computer screen and fooling over 1.5million tan seekers worldwide and delivering to them a very impactful message about the danger they are putting themselves at in pursuit of a tan! Check computertan out here.
The new campaign 'Sunny 3' launched in August 2011 and also proved successful, this time the spoof was fooling people into thinking that they could triple the power of the sun's rays on their skin by applying a product called Sunny 3, which was being used by Swedish teenagers who were using it to tan through their light summer nights, which had started a craze called 'night tanning'!
A fake e-commerce site selling the product at www.sunny3.co.uk was created where tanners could order their free samples by putting in their email address. The craze was then furnished with fake Swedish news reports and fake videos of tanners using the product and acheieving dark golden tans - in fact everyone who appeared in the videos was wearing fake tan, which in our view is the only safe tan there is!
Within just one week 15,000 people ordered the Sunny3 product with 90,000 people engaging with the hoax and a further 250,000 people touched by the campaign through social media.
