Early Detection

Detecting skin cancers early save lives - FACT! Particularly in the case of Melanoma, the deadliest form of the disease. It is important to check your skin regularly for signs of change, and consult your doctor immediately if you detect any changes particularly with moles, or are unsure of any unusual marks, patches, sores or spots, no matter how small they are.

Here is a list of the various types of skin cancer, here you will find information on each type including signs & symptoms, and pictures that may help you identify what to look out for.

     ◦    Basal Cell Carcinoma (BCC = NMSC)
     ◦    Squamous Cell Carcinoma (SCC =NMSC)
     ◦    Melanoma
     ◦    Actinic Keratoses
     ◦    Bowen's Disease

If nothing else please ensure you look at the Melanoma page and familiarise yourself with the ABCD of Melanoma, in our 'How to Detect Skin Cancer' section, which will help you to remember what to look out for.
