Part of the LPC Pharmaceutical Group, Uvistat have made a major contribution to the success of the charity. The two organisations have formed a unique association jointly creating skin cancer awareness in the sports and leisure field. They also advise on the science of suncare.

SKCIN, the EGU and Uvistat have combined to promote a unique skin cancer awareness campaign targeting over 1 million golfers at 2000 golf clubs throughout the UK. Posters and magazine articles aim to warn club golfers who are members of the English Golf Union or the English Womens Golf Union of the dangers of over exposure to the sun asking the question You may be under par but are you over exposed ?

For the third year running, SKCIN were responsible for undertaking a pre-season skin cancer screening of the playing staff at Trent Bridge. As in season 2007, the charity have committed to an awareness campaign at the ground using posters, a ground board, Twenty20 programme advertising and PA announcements.

Established in 1981, Wessex Cancer Trust covers most of the South Coast of England as well as the Isle of Wight and the Channel Islands providing relief for those suffering from cancer and their carers. The charity also promotes research into the disease and aims to advance education into its causes, prevention and treatment.

One of the charity’s key services relates to melanoma and related cancers for the skin. MARC’S LINE is a telephone help and advice line (01722 415071) which provides a vital contact point between skin cancer patients and their families.

This excellent facility staffed by professionals will shortly be available for access via the SKCIN website using the same phone number. Wessex Cancer Trust and SKCIN have agreed to work together at every opportunity to raise skin cancer awareness and will exchange leaflets and other literature.
