CHAMPIONS & AMBASSADORS

If you are passionate about the vital role of education in saving lives from skin cancer, becoming a Skcin Champion or Ambassador is the perfect way to support our mission, inspire action and help us spread life-saving knowledge across schools, workplaces and communities nationwide.

YOUR VOICE MATTERS

Every year, thousands of people are diagnosed with skin cancer — yet in most cases, it’s preventable and highly treatable when found early. Our mission is simple but powerful: to educate, empower, and equip communities to protect their skin and check for the early signs of cancer.

When you join our team as Champion or Ambassador, you become part of a passionate network of advocates who believe that awareness saves lives. Whether you’re a survivor, have lost a loved one to the disease, a healthcare worker, student, or simply someone who cares — your voice matters. We offer two engaging roles that can align your passion with your skills, interests, expertise and availability. Here’s a quick guide to help you choose the right path for you.

CHAMPION ROLE

This role is designed to provide flexibility, allowing you to raise awareness on your terms, in your own time, without set deliverables or deadlines – activities include but are not limited to:

• Raise awareness about skin cancer prevention and early detection in your local community and inspire others to take UV safety and skin checking seriously.
• Share your story (if applicable) to highlight your passion in combating skin cancer through educational intervention.
• Engage with local primary schools, pre-schools and workplaces to promote our five national accreditation programmes, dedicated app and awareness resources.
• Follow Skcin and share information and resources through social media networks.
• Take on a fundraising challenge or organise a fundraising event annually to support our work.

AMBASSADOR ROLE

An Ambassador role includes all of the Champion roles but is more suited to individuals who can provide greater input due to their professional capacity and area(s) of interest or expertise.

For example, aside from the general public, Skcin work nationally targeting the following key ‘high risk’ and ‘influential’ sectors:
• Pe-school, Primary and Secondary education
• Employers of Outdoor Workers
• Hair and Beauty Industry Professionals
• Healthcare Professionals and Medical Practitioners

Ambassadors working within any area of these professions may have ideas, connections and opportunities that could help us collaborate, partner, raise awareness and provide vital educational intervention. For example our Ambassadors have requested to, or where appropriate may be asked to:

• Travel and speak at key events.
• Provide quotes or interviews for national press.
• Represent the charity at conferences and exhibitions.
• Introduce and/or engage with key stakeholders and potential partners.

In addition, Ambassadors are expected to liaise more closely with Skcin and provide quarterly activity reports.

WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR

We welcome Ambassadors from all walks of life. You don’t need any prior experience — just passion, commitment, and the willingness to make a difference.

Ideal candidates are:
• Enthusiastic communicators and community connectors
• Comfortable speaking to groups or using social media to share messages
• Dedicated to health promotion, wellbeing, or cancer prevention
• Able to commit several hours each month to Champion/Ambassador activities
